GCS Weekly Warmup (021717)

Posted February 21, 2017

Hello my singing friends!

Oh My Gosh we are almost 100 strong!
Welcome to all our new members and returning members. Now I wonder how we’re all going to fit on the risers at concert time! What a great problem to have!

REMINDERS:
Please use the Balsam Street Entrance: Trinity United is trying to manage cleaning costs. If you feel you must use the parking lot entrance, please remove your shoes at the door.

No boots in the Sanctuary! Don’t forget to bring slippers or shoes!

Be Scent Savvy: Some of us are very sensitive to scents. This can include hair spray, body lotion, and other scented products. Because you wear it all the time, you may not even realize that your scent is affecting others. Please give a thought to the products you wear, and please don’t wear scents to our practices. Thank you!!

What we sang last:
Seasons of Love (RENT)
Wicked – For Good
Your Song

What we’re singing next:

No One Mourns the Wicked (Wicked)
For Good (Wicked)
Africa
O Siem

Kaitlyn Watt also sings in the Cork Street Choir and they did Toto’s Africa last June at ‘Hope on the Street’ with special rain effects!. Here is a link to their Youtube video:

Why we alternate songs week to week:
Last session, we had great success with Rachel’s new method of alternating pieces. We don’t want to overwhelm you, and studies show that repetition in the early stages really helps us remember the pieces. So we will be alternating and adding pieces as we go along.

Missing music?
Thank you for your patience! Extra copies are back-ordered, and on the way.

Practice Tracks
Some of the pieces are already up on our website. You can listen to them there, or you can download them to your smart phone and listen to them in the car! Click on https://www.guelphcommunitysingers.ca/members/practice-tracks/. The password is ‘gcs’.
