Guelph Community Singers – Tuesday Update before June 3 Concert

Posted July 16, 2017

Hello my singing friends! Here is some additional information. Also, please be sure to read the next two emails about our Annual General Meeting and Town Hall.

PRE-REGISTRATION FOR SEPTEMBER ON JUNE 14 AT ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING!!
What?? Yes it’s true! We have capped our membership at 110, so be sure to pre-register on June 14. Benefits: secure your spot now, PLUS Guarantee 2017 registration pricing, Members can pay cash or cheque (payment can even be made in installments with post-dated cheques).

CONSTRUCTION ADVISORY:
For tomorrow’s dress rehearsal, please note there is road construction going on near Trinity, Speedvale is closed between Delhi and Stevenson off and on until the end of this week – should be okay for Saturday’s concert (I hope!).

FROM CONCERT MANAGER BARB MOLDENHAUER: PLEASE READ THROUGH!!!
Hi Everyone: Just a few final notes for everyone before the Concert on Saturday evening. Please take the time to read through, especially if this is your first Concert with Guelph Community Singers. Don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or requests you may have. moldenhauer.b@sympatico.ca

TICKETS: I will still have tickets available for sale ($10) at our rehearsal on Wednesday, May 31. If I am holding tickets for you, please be sure to pick them up and pay for them on Wednesday. Also, if you took unpaid tickets to presell, please ensure you pay for them and/or return any unsold tickets. There will be a limited number of tickets for sale at the door on Saturday evening. Remember, tickets at the door are $15.

TRINITY AMBASSADORS: For an event of this size, Trinity provides two members from the congregation to be available in the church building. Ron McMillan and John Bye are both good friends of mine. They will look after running the elevators for all guests who need them. Please feel free to chat with them and ask any questions about the building you may have. That’s what they are there for! Ron will also help us move the risers on the stage.

WASHROOMS: The most asked question is always about bathrooms. There are two downstairs on the auditorium level. One on the main level, in the coat rack area. And, one on the mezzanine level.

HANDICAPPED GUESTS:There are handicapped parking spots in the parking lot off Stevenson Street. The first 2 or 3 spots are reserved for handicapped, and as well there are a couple at the back of the auditorium. There is a ramp going into the church at the back of the auditorium, and also a new ramp going into the side door off the parking lot. The ramp at the back involves two elevators; the ramp at the side door, only one.

CHOIR MEMBER PARKING: I am suggesting choir members park across the street at Edward Johnson School when they arrive for 5:30 p.m. This will leave the Trinity parking lot and adjacent streets (Balsam & Pine) available for guests. If the parking space at the school appears full, there is additional parking available at the back. There is a traffic light in front of the school to ensure everyone crosses Stevenson Street safely.

LADIES’ PURSES: I will lock purses in the Chalmers Room during the duration of the Concert. This is the room immediately inside the side door from the parking lot (same as at last concert). The door will be opened at, say, 7:00 p.m., and locked at 7:15 p.m. It will be reopened as soon as I can get there after the Concert. Our Trinity Ambassadors (who will be out in the hallway) also have a key to that room, and can open the door if I am not available. However, neither John, Ron nor myself will be able to remain in the room to supervise purses during the time the door is actually unlocked.

REFRESHMENTS: Please bring your refreshments for intermission, and place them on the large table in the auditorium when you arrive. And, please don’t forget to take your plate/bowl back home with you. Bring FINGER FOODS ONLY – nothing requiring a fork or spoon to eat.

VOLUNTEERS: Thank you so much to all of you who have volunteered to help out. Together, we will all contribute to the huge success of our Concert. And, I know any choir member will be happy to pitch in and help out if any unexpected need arises. You’re great!!
