Weekly Warm-up (V160111)

Posted January 11, 2016

Hi my singing friends!

After another rousing warm-up coached by Ann (Thank you Ann!), last week we sang almost the whole line-up! We sound pretty good!

Sectionals
This coming Wednesday, go directly to your sectionals group at 7:30. Sopranos meet in the Sanctuary, Altos in the parlour and Tenors and Baritones in the room next to the parlour.

CONCERT January 23 – Call for EMCEE
Do you know anyone who would enjoy acting as emcee? We need someone who is comfortable speaking in front of our audience and introducing the pieces. If you have any ideas or suggestions, please pass them along to me ASAP 🙂

Pre-Concert Promotion
We have posters! (Thank you Kira and Kelley!) Please pick some up and post them wherever you can! Grocery Stores, Office, Church …Wherever you are, chances are our audience is there too!

But of course we also want you to use social media to promote our concert. Kira has sent along the following blurbs as suggestions for your Facebook, Twitter or any other social media sites you use. Of course you can personalize these too, or send out your own version.

For Twitter, which requires messages be no more than 140 characters:

Love #Canada and #Guelph? I’m singing in the next Guelph Community Singers all-Canuck concert, Sat. Jan. 23. www.guelphcommunitysingers.ca Come!

For Facebook or any other social media site that doesn’t have a character-limit:

Do you love Canada? We do too! Unleash your inner patriot with the Guelph Community Singers and our new concert on Saturday, January 23 @ 7:30 p.m. Feel-good, all-Canadian music for dark winter days. You should come! www.guelphcommunitysingers.ca

Post Concert Party
Martina, our intrepid Chairperson, has graciously offered to host the after party at her home at 125 Riverview Drive. Snacks and bevvies are appreciated. Friends and family welcome.

Concert Volunteers
Our Concert is a week from this coming Saturday. Almost here! Just a couple notes from our Concert Mistress Barbara Moldenhauer:

Refreshments
I trust everyone will bring one item for the refreshment table to share with each other and all our guests. Please bring to the church kitchen already prepared (cut) on your own plate or bowl from home, properly covered with saran wrap. These can be immediately placed on the tables set up in the auditorium, ready for intermission. Of course, you will have to remember to take your plate/bowl back home after the concert. Please bring FINGER FOODS only – nothing requiring a fork or spoon to eat. Suggestions: squares / cookies / candies / any kind of loaf / tarts / cheese & crackers / veggies / fruit / bowl of potato chips, Doritos, etc.

Tickets
Again, tickets will be available before and after our practice on Wednesday, January 13 and 20. Remember – pre-sold tickets are $10; at the door, they are $15. You can pay for them when you pick them up, or on the 20th at our rehearsal at Trinity.
