Weekly Warmup (V150914)

Posted September 17, 2015

Well that went well, didn’t it! Thanks to all of you for helping to make our Fall registration the smoothest ever!

Hello and welcome all you returning members, and a special welcome to the new! As of last Wednesday’s registration, we have 40 returning and 20 new members. We’re so glad to have you all aboard for this, our 7th season.

Music

Our new selections have come in and we will be handing them out this coming Wednesday, September 16. Lots of gorgeous Canadian songs! Some people thought our last concert was a little short, so this season we are padding out our repertoire with some old favourites as well as new tunes.

Last week, we sang:

  • Un Canadien Errant (in which the river flees)
  • O Siem (which I always remember as ‘nosiem’ – an ode to those pesky little biters)
  • Log Driver’s Waltz (not to be confused with ‘The Lumberjack’s Song’)

Practice Tracks!

Now that the music is in, we will be recording practice tracks that you will be able to use. Each section will have its own full version of each piece, recorded on piano and voice.

Music Reading Workshop!

Stay tuned for news on a workshop to help those of us who are music reading challenged. We will be hosting a music reading workshop 45 minutes before an upcoming choir practice. Date to be confirmed shortly.

Volunteer Opportunities

We’re still looking for new member ambassadors, social committee members and help with finding a new venue – especially the latter! We really need your help! Please give us a hand with these important tasks if you can.

Help us be a bigger Choir!

If every current GCS member convinces just one friend or family member to join us, we would be a 120-member+ choir. Imagine the music we would make! Are you on Facebook? Do you use Twitter or Instagram or Pinterest? Please help put the word out on our amazing choir by posting this message:
