GCS Weekly Warm-up (V040316)Posted April 9, 2016
Hi my singing friends!
If it seems like we’re a bigger group than usual, we are! We usually have about 70 members for the second session. This time around, we have 83! Woot Woot!! I love the energy that I’m feeling at our rehearsals.
For those of you who are new to the group, you might be wondering how this is all going to come together. As they say in ‘Shakespeare in Love’:
Philip Henslowe: Mr. Fennyman, allow me to explain about the theatre business. The natural condition is one of insurmountable obstacles on the road to imminent disaster.
Hugh Fennyman: So what do we do?
Philip Henslowe: Nothing. Strangely enough, it all turns out well.
Hugh Fennyman: How?
Philip Henslowe: I don’t know. It’s a mystery.
Or as we sang in ‘Another Opnin’ Another Show’:
Four weeks, you rehearse and rehearse,
Three weeks and it couldn’t be worse,
One week, will it ever be right?
Then out o’ the hat, it’s that big first night!
All I’m saying is, don’t worry – it always works out!
LOST AND FOUND:
Laura McRae is missing a pair of black and grey gloves. Did anyone happen to see them?
LAST WEEK WE SANG:
- Since First
- Now is the Month of Maying
- sun, moon, stars, rain
- Sit Down You’re Rockin the Boat
- Little Shop of Horrors
All the songs are on the website now! Go to the members section, password is: gcs. Lower case. Download and listen to your heart’s content!
WANT TO HELP SPREAD THE WORD?
Calling all writers, marketers and social media butterflies! Kira, our marketing and communications person, is looking for a little help to get the word out about GCS to other singers (and wannabe singers) in our community. She needs people who can proofread or write ads and event write-ups, distribute posters, etc. Interested? Send us an email and Kira will connect with you (and might even give chocolate in thanks!).
Is anyone missing any songs? Please let us know.
Session 2 Rehearsals: Feb 3 – June 1
Break: March 16
Spring Concert: June 4
SCENTS SENSITIVITIES: Just a reminder: Some of our members are very sensitive to scents. Please don’t wear perfume or other strong scents when you come to choir practice. Thanks!–
