GCS Weekly Warmup (021317)

Posted February 15, 2017

Hello my singing friends!

Our second practice went well, don’t you think? Welcome to all our new members! And welcome back to our stalwart returning singers.

Last chance to register!
If you know of anyone who is still thinking of joining us, please let them know that this coming Wednesday Feb 15 is the last chance to register for this session. Thank you to Barb Anderson, Carol Burke and Hannah Sennit for your help!

No boots in the Sanctuary!
Don’t forget to bring slippers or shoes!

What we sang last:
Seasons of Love (RENT)
Africa
O Siem

What we’re singing next:
No One Mourns the Wicked (Wicked)
For Good (Wicked)
Your Song

Why we alternate songs week to week:
Last session, we had great success with Rachel’s new method of alternating pieces. We don’t want to overwhelm you, and studies show that repetition in the early stages really helps us remember the pieces. So we will be alternating and adding pieces as we go along.

Missing music?
Thank you for your patience! Extra copies are back-ordered, and on the way.

Practice Tracks
Some of the pieces are already up on our website. You can listen to them there, or you can download them to your smart phone and listen to them in the car! Click on https://www.guelphcommunitysingers.ca/members/practice-tracks/. The password is ‘gcs’.

More Help!
Need help reading music? We will have music reading workshops soon.

Social Stuff:
Part of the fun of joining a choir is making new friends. We love doing things together! Last year we saw RCMPI’s ‘Into the Woods’ and we went for dinner as a group before choir at Baker Street Bistro. We’re putting together some new socializing ideas. What would you like to do?

You’re all welcome to join us after choir for a cuppa tea or your bevvie of choice at the Pennywhistle. We enjoy talking about what we’re singing, and of course it’s always fun to make new friends.

Be Scent Savvy:
Some of us are very sensitive to scents. This can include hair spray, body lotion, and other scented products. Because you wear it all the time, you may not even realize that your scent is affecting others. Please give a thought to the products you wear, and please don’t wear scents to our practices.
